Here are some photos from an afternoon spent at Rye Beach on 3/8. You can see Rye Playland in the distance in some of the pics.

Here are some random videos from February.
I believe that Blaine is saying, “Dance Party!” in this one, not sure.
Sarah’s solo dance party:
More dancing! I believe that the Beach Boys song “Wouldn’t it be Nice” was playing at the time. Blaine is saying “Hop on Pop” and trying to get me to let him jump on me (it was Dr. Seuss week at preschool).
… and a few extra photos from February that I didn’t put in the last post. Blaine and me at Manor Park in Larchmont:
I let Blaine talk me into buying a pool noodle at Target one day, and here are some pics of the kids playing with it at home.
I’m feeling lazy so I’ve decided to glom a bunch of photos from February together into this one post! Here’s Blaine getting ready for Valentine’s Day.
Breakfast out at Stanz cafe in Larchmont.
Blaine and Sarah are excellent at peeling garlic cloves.
Reading together while I cooked the rest of the meal.
We went to Wynnewood for the weekend to visit Mom-Mom and Aunt Molly. Sarah decided she did not want to read our usual bedtime stories and instead picked a new one off the shelf – The Two Towers (Lord of the Rings trilogy).
Humpty 2 was not doing so well by 2/16.
On 2/18, we took a trip to the Hommocks Ice Rink so that Blaine and Sarah could see how people ice skate. Blaine was fascinated. They both enjoyed climbing on the bleachers.
On 2/19, we checked out the Flint Park nature walk, and the kids had a great time on this boardwalk. I appreciated the fact that they could run around without getting into much trouble. And we got to enjoy the water and the sound of the reeds, and saw a bunch of geese and other birds.
On 2/20, we took a family trip to Tarrytown to see the Hudson River walk and the Tappan Zee bridge under construction. We had lunch in Sleepy Hollow before heading home.
We got another few inches of snow on Friday, 2/5, and the Mamaroneck schools were closed, so Blaine had the day off from preschool, as well. We decided to make some cookies.
It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day after the brief snow, so we also went outside and built Humpty #2.
Humpty 2 had marbles for eyes, a twig for a nose, and rocks for a mouth. He fared much better than the original Humpty because the weather took a turn the next day and got much colder for a week or two.
In the afternoon we indulged in some more delicious drinking chocolate, and we even shared some with Sarah. She was hooked!
Here’s another shot from 2/6 of Blaine napping on Daddy’s lap, quite possibly the first time he’s ever made the transfer inside from a car nap.
We took our first trip to the Bronx Zoo on 2/2. Many of the animals were not on display due to the cold, but we still had fun. One highlight was the mouse house, but it was quite dark inside and the pictures don’t show much. Here’s one of the kids looking at the lions.
We also had fun in the gorilla area (though sadly we did not find the actual gorillas).
We did get to see this cool monitor lizard.
And some smaller monkeys.
It was a quick trip, but we hope to get back soon when the weather’s a bit warmer.
On 1/31, the snow had finally become packable enough to form into a perfect snowman, so we built one out back. Blaine decided we should name him Humpty.
Humpty was a fireman (not the best occupation for a snowman, I suppose), with blueberry eyes, a jalapeno nose, and pasta for a mouth. If you’re wondering why he has so many sticks in his abdomen, it’s because Blaine thought he should have four hands (“like Curious George!”).
That afternoon, Reece came over to keep us company and joined Blaine for some tent time. We also went out for a yummy Mexican dinner in town, where we discovered Sarah has a taste for salsa. She hogged the entire dish.
Daddy had his first trip to India since the move at the end of January, so Mom-mom and Aunt Molly came up to visit and help with the kids for a few nights. We had a great time at music class on Friday (Aunt Molly was a huge hit, of course) and at the bonfire at Manor Beach on Saturday night, to celebrate Larchmont’s 125th Anniversary.
Aunt Suzanne stayed with us for a night on 1/26, and Blaine broke out the doctor’s kit so she could teach him a thing or two (and submit to having her blood pressure taken).
We were all so impressed when this giant snow-scooper and dump trucks arrived to remove all the snow that had been plowed to the side of our street
The big snowstorm on 1/23 dumped roughly two feet of snow on us. Luckily, we’d already procured snow gear for the kids, though we should have gotten a child-sized shovel for Blaine so he wouldn’t hog our single regular-sized one. (BTW thank you to Mom-mom for subsequently getting him one – he loves it!) Sarah was not thrilled to be out in the storm, but Blaine didn’t want to come back inside.
Once we did get him back inside, though, he loved this fancy drinking chocolate (thanks, Gram!). I wasn’t sure he’d like it when I heard that he’d rejected the hot chocolate they had at school in favor of water, but I guess he has a taste for good chocolate.
And, here’s one more shot of Blaine in the hat…why not?
