Thanks to Uncle Tim for the onesie… I guess.  🙂  While wearing this Blaine had a giant twozie that leaked from his diaper in two places!

Blaine had his first Tom Douglas experience on Sunday!

He didn’t get to have any of the pizza, but he did enjoy munching on that purple ring, and his thumb.

Yesterday we took Blaine on his first trip to the zoo!  The sun came out and it was a beautiful day.  Here’s a picture of Blaine and Mommy with a jaguar in the background:

Blaine and I had a good day yesterday!  We had a good night of sleep (10 hr stretch without waking) and met a neighbor and her 3 month old for coffee mid-day. Last night he went to sleep on his own (I put him down awake) with no crying, and he slept for 10 hrs again! Progress!  Though we are missing Daddy while he’s in NY.

1. Blaine showing off his skill of grabbing the froggy ring on his bouncy seat — he’s been doing it for 2 or 3 days and now looks fairly bored with it. He pulled it about 8 or 9 times in a row earlier today and that music sure gets annoying.

Today Blaine and I visited daycare for the first time.  We went over after his morning nap and filled out paperwork, played a little, had a bottle, took a short nap, and ate and played some more.  We were only there about 4 hours.  I was able to snag a crib in the back right next to the noise machine for Blaine, but I still think sleep is going to be the biggest challenge.  He was clearly tired but had a tough time falling asleep.  When he finally did go down I went for coffee and when I got back found out Blaine had only slept for 25 minutes!  Oh well.  We’ll have to work on that.  Here’s the daily newsletter we’ll receive:

WHT 2-11-13 infant 1

Blaine is in infant room 1 (there are 3 rooms) and his room only has 6 infants right now (it will be 8 pretty soon).  There’s Blaine, Sydney (1 month older, her father works for Amazon on the same floor of the same building as I do!), Caroline (1 month older). Dylan (same as Blaine, ~4 mos), Vesper (don’t know age), and Matthew (the oldest… I think he’s nearing 1 year so will probably be moving on soon).  His teacher is Miss Debbie but they are hiring another primary teacher to work with her, right now the others are all assistants.

Blaine seemed a bit overwhelmed by it all (as was I!) but I’m hoping to ease the transition for us both by spending a few hours there with him for a few days this week.  Then next week I’ll plan to get some appointments scheduled and leave him for longer times.  I go back to work on Monday 2/25… 🙁

Blaine couldn’t decide who to root for so he wore a San Francisco onesie from Aunt Jody and his raven (well, actually crow) t-shirt on top…

Doula Jennifer Mendelson came over on 1/30 to watch Blaine so Mommy could go to the PEPS Mom’s night out while Andrew was in India.  I had to capture their matching outfits!

They must have really been in synch — Jennifer put Blaine down for the night and he slept for his longest stretch ever — 12 hours without waking!

… Unfortunately that also marked the end of Blaine’s good sleep trend.  The next night he woke up 3 times and it just went on from there getting worse and worse over the course of the past week until two nights in a row when he was getting up every ~2 hrs.  So, now we’re officially doing sleep training!
